Understanding Your Season

Understanding Your Season

Have you ever wondered WHY it is taking so long? What is God doing? Maybe you’re feeling like God has forgotten you and that the vision or dream that He placed in your heart will not come to pass.

Boy, do I have good news for you today! Everything is RIGHT ON SCHEDULE! GOD HAS YOU AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME and if you will just walk closely with Him and keep your complete TRUST in Him, everything will turn out just as He said it would!

In Ecclesiastes 3:1 God’s Word tells us, “To everything there is a SEASON, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” As we study God’s Word, we learn amazing truths about who God is and how He operates. Here we learn that God is a God of seasons. Everything that God does, He does in seasons.

In the book of Genesis we learned that God divided time itself into different seasons. There is a day season and there is a night season. There is a winter season and there is a summer season. Each season has its own purpose. For example, the DAY SEASON is for working and the NIGHT SEASON is for resting (see Psalms 104:23).

Just like there are NATURAL SEASONS on the earth, there are also SPIRITUAL SEASONS. In 1 Thessalonians 5:1 we discover that God has set a specific season for the return of Jesus Christ to the earth. In Acts 1:7, we learn that God has a pre-determined and specific season for the complete restoration of the nation of Israel and the salvation of the Jews.

So we can see that there are NATURAL SEASONS and SPIRITUAL SEASONS. But God also has a SPECIFIC SEASON for your life. Just as God has created different seasons of time on the earth, He has also divided our life into different seasons. God has a specific season that He has set aside to bring to pass His plan and purpose for your life.

I just love the book of Psalms, especially Psalm chapter 1! In Psalm 1:3 it declares, “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit IN HIS SEASON; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Notice the phrase “in his season”. You have a season! Your season is called “due season”. It is the set time that God has prepared to bring to pass His specific plan and promises that He has for your life. Remember, everything that God does in your life, He does through seasons. God’s ultimate purpose and plan for your life is being withheld from complete fulfillment until the right season!

Everyone of us has a “DUE SEASON”. We must never confuse our current season with our due season. There is a difference between the current season you are in and your due season. Remember, your due season is the season of destiny! It is the season of fulfillment.

What dream has God placed in your heart? What is it that God has called you to do? God has a specific season planned just for you where He will bring it all to pass. Habakkuk 2:3 declares, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

In John chapter 2 Jesus told His mother, “Mine hour is not yet.” Jesus understood that there was a specific season for His ministry to be fulfilled. Moses got ahead of God when he killed the Egyptian. He tried to deliver the children of Israel before it was the right season. Abraham tried to help God’s promise of a child come to pass, not realizing that God had a specific season already set for the fulfillment of the promise.

It is very important that you understand what season you are in. In 1 Chronicles 12:32 it tells us that the children of Issachar, “had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” In order for you to enter into and fulfill your due season, you must know what to do in your current season. How you handle your current season will determine whether you ever enter into your due season.

It is important to understand that God is using your current season to prepare you for your due season. Your current season may seem long, it may seem hard, but remember it is a season of preparation. In Deuteronomy 8:2 God tells the children of Israel that the purpose of their wilderness season was for a time of testing and proving. We must all go through a “wilderness season” before we enter our due season.

Israel had to pass through the wilderness on the way to the promised land. Moses dwelt in the desert for 40 years before he became the mighty deliverer of God’s people. What about Joseph? He spent time in a pit and a prison before the dream God gave him could come to pass. Even Jesus went to the wilderness to be tested (Luke 4:1) before He began His ministry!

There will always be a wilderness season before we enter into our due season. In the wilderness we will be tested. Your faith will be tested and you will be tempted to give up on your dream. Only after we pass the test of the wilderness season will God promote us to our due season.

So do not give up! God has not forgotten you. The vision is for an appointed time, it will come to pass! Maybe it looks bleak right now, but God has not forgotten you. He is only testing you. He has you in the wilderness. But remember, just across the river is the promised land. Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

This was great reading because the article “Understanding Your Season” is the first clear explanation I have had about biblical seasons. At this point in my life, I am dealing with several perplexing challenges, all at the same time, which make no logical sense and yet I know that God is in the midst of all of this.
I would like to find more articles regarding this subject.
    Thank you so much!
