Day 91: The Benefits Of Salvation

Day 91: The Benefits Of Salvation
March 31, 2015 Joel Grantham

“Bless The Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:  Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.”  Psalm 103:2-3

As a child of God, redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, certain rights and privileges belong to us.  Included among these are the forgiveness of all our sins and healing for all our diseases.

You can be as confident that it is always God’s will for you to be healed as you are that it is always God’s will for you to be forgiven!  If it is not God’s will to heal ALL, then it is not God’s will to forgive ALL.  However, we know that it is God’s will for all to be saved and forgiven of their sins.  After all Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, not for just the sins of a select few!  (See 1 John 2:2.)  2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God is, “Not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance.”

Physical healing is one of the many benefits available to us as children of God.  You do not have to beg for God to heal you!  Healing belongs to us!  It is our covenant right to be healed.

Would God ever turn a sinner away if they came to Him sincerely asking for forgiveness?  Of course not!  Well, neither would God ever turn a sick person away who comes to Him in faith asking for healing.  If someone is not healed, it is not because it is not God’s will to heal them!  It is because they have failed to receive the healing that God has provided.

If someone is lost, it is not because it is not God’s will for them to be saved.  We have already seen that it is God’s will for ALL to be saved.  It can only be because they have failed to receive the salvation that God has already provided.  Like healing, salvation has already been provided because of what Jesus did on the cross.

Here in Psalm 103 we find two keys to receiving divine healing, or any of God’s benefits for that matter.  The first key is found in the command to “Bless the Lord, O my soul.”  Never underestimate the power of praise and thanksgiving.  Instead of begging for God to heal you, begin to praise and worship Him for what He has already accomplished on the cross.  Thank Him that He has already paid for your healing!  Praise unlocks the blessings of God!

The second key is found in the command, “Forget not all His benefits.”  Before you can have faith in one of God’s benefits, you must first know that it is available.  After all, it is impossible to believe God beyond your actual knowledge of His Word.  Romans 10:17 tells us that, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

It is very important that you find a scripture that promises the thing that you are asking God to give you.  Your faith must not be based upon “hope” but upon the Word of God!  There is a BIG difference between “hoping and praying” and “believing and praying”.  You should find at least one scripture to base your faith upon.  In John 15:7 Jesus shows us the key to answered prayer when He says, “If you abide in Me, AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, you will ask what you desire, AND IT SHALL BE DONE FOR YOU.”

Confession:   Healing belongs to me!  It is one of the many benefits of being a child of God.  I do not have to be sick!  Thank You Lord for healing me.
