“Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.” Psalm 91:9-10
Protection from sickness and all other attacks from the devil are found in the presence of the Lord. One of the master keys to walking in the blessings of God is the daily practice of the presence of the Lord. I am of course speaking about experiencing the presence of the Lord while we are alone with the Lord in the place of prayer.
Psalm 9:3 says, “When my enemies turn back, THEY SHALL FALL AND PERISH AT YOUR PRESENCE.” The presence of the Lord is a powerful weapon against the devil. The nation of Israel was guaranteed victory in battle as longs as the Ark of the Covenant went before them. In the Old Covenant God’s presence abided on top of the mercy seat between the two Cheribums that stood on top of the Ark.
In Psalm 27:5 and 6, King David proclaimed that God literally hides us from the enemy when we abide continually in His presence. “For in the time of trouble HE SHALL HIDE ME IN HIS PAVILION; IN THE SECRET PLACE OF HIS TABERNACLE HE SHALL HIDE ME; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me…” Once you learn to practice the presence of God on a daily basis through prayer, you will begin to experience a greater measure of victory in your life.
Psalm 42:1-2 declares, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” Here the Psalmist compares his desire for the presence of God with the strong desire a deer has for water. There are two reasons that a deer “pants for the water brooks.” First, to quench his thirst. Truly, nothing can satisfy like the manifest presence of God! The second reason that a deer longs for water is because he understands that if he can reach water, whatever animal is chasing him will lose his scent and he will escape to safety. Like the deer, when we dwell in God’s presence, Satan loses our scent and we escape his trap!
Psalm 31:20 says, “You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence.” Who is God hiding us from? He is hiding us from the devil, from sickness, from destruction and from all harm! In Psalm 32:7 it declares, “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
In the presence of God is safety, provision and healing. Only when we set our love on Him by abiding in His presence are we safe from the enemy. Do not neglect the time of prayer. It is truly your life-line in the Spirit!
Prayer: Lord, draw me to the place of prayer and hide me under the shadow of Your wings. I thank You for allowing me to enter Your manifest presence.
