Day 87: The Root Cures The Fruit

Day 87: The Root Cures The Fruit
March 27, 2015 Joel Grantham

“God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause His face to shine upon us; Selah.  That Thy way may be known upon the earth, Thy saving health among all nations.”  Psalm 67:1-2 KJV

What many people do not realize is that the word “salvation” in the Bible actually includes physical healing.  According to the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, the Hebrew word most commonly translated as “salvation” literally means:  deliverance, victory, prosperity, HEALTH, help, save, SAVING HEALTH and welfare.  In the Greek the word means:  rescue, safely, deliver, HEALTH, save and saving.

Time and time again the Bible links together the forgiveness of sin and the healing of our bodies.  Why?  Because they were both purchased by the same Person, Jesus Christ, at the same place, the cross of Calvary!  Let’s look at a few of those scriptures for just a moment.

Psalm 103:3 says of God, “Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.”  As you can see, the SAME God who is willing to forgive ALL is also willing to heal ALL.  Why?  Because forgiveness and healing come from the same place.  At the same time that Jesus paid for your sins, He also paid for your sicknesses and diseases.

Isaiah 33:24 declares, “And the inhabitant will not say, ‘I am sick’; the people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity.”  Once again we see a connection between forgiveness of sin and healing of the body.  Why would the people not say that they were sick?  Because the Lord had forgiven their sin.

You see, sickness exists in the earth because of sin.  It was the fall of man that gave birth to sickness and disease.  Sickness and disease is not the result of a physical condition but the result of a spiritual condition.  This is why that, even after all the advances we have made in medicines and medical technology, we still are unable to eradicate sickness and disease from off this planet.  Doctors will never be able to cure mankind’s sickness problem.  Why?  Because the root of the problem is not physical, but spiritual!

Sickness exists in the earth because sin exists.  Now, I am not saying that the reason that every individual is sick is because they have some unconfessed or unrepented sin in their life.  What I am saying is that the reason that sickness exists in general, is because sin exists on this planet.  Sin is the root and sickness is the fruit.  Sickness is simply the outward symptom of man’s fallen spiritual condition.

It just makes common sense that if you cure the root problem (sin) then you will automatically cure the fruit (sickness).  When Jesus cured man’s sin problem on the cross, He by default also cured our sickness and disease problem.  They are forever linked!  If Jesus did not completely pay for our sickness on the cross then He did not completely pay for our sin on the cross.  You can’t cure one without curing the other!

Confession:   Jesus Christ has paid for all of my sins and all of my sicknesses on the cross.  By His blood I am forgiven and healed!
