Day 82: Don’t Talk Yourself Out Of God’s Promises

Day 82: Don’t Talk Yourself Out Of God’s Promises
March 22, 2015 Joel Grantham

“Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good?  Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.”  Psalm 34:12-13

Your words have just as much an impact on your physical health as God’s Word does because the way that we receive the promises of God is through our mouth.  In Romans 10 we are given a pattern for how to receive from God.  In this chapter the Apostle Paul uses salvation as an example, but it will work for receiving healing as well.

You see, the same way that you received the new birth is the same way that you receive everything that God has provided because of Jesus’ work on the cross.  Colossians 2:6 declares, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.”  In other words, the same way that you received salvation is the same way that you receive from God after you are saved.  The pattern doesn’t change!

With this in mind, let us look at Romans 10:1o with a fresh perspective.  It says, “For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”  Did you see it?  You did not receive salvation by simply “believing” in Jesus.  No, your mouth was also involved!  The Greek says, “With the mouth confession is made INTO salvation.”  Your words literally bring you INTO God’s promises.

In today’s verse the Psalmist tells us that if we desire health and a long life that we should never let evil words come out of our mouth.  What are “evil words”?  In Numbers 13:32 (KJV) it says of the ten spies sent out by Moses to search the Promised Land, “And they brought up an EVIL REPORT of the land.”  Basically they spoke negatively!  They spoke out of fear, not out of faith.  Instead of saying what God had said about their situation, they spoke words of doubt and unbelief.  And it was their WORDS that kept them out of the Promised Land!

Don’t let your words keep you out of God’s promise of health and healing.  It is not enough that you BELIEVE that God wants you well, you must also CONFESS His healing promises with your mouth.  When you do, you will talk your way right INTO healing!

Confession:  I believe in my heart that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and for my sicknesses and diseases.  Right now I confess and claim that physical healing belongs to me through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
