“O Lord my God, I cried out to You, and You healed me.” Psalm 30:2
God loves you and cares about your every need. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all of your care upon Him, for HE CARES FOR YOU.” God doesn’t just love your spirit and care about your spiritual needs. He also loves your body and cares about your physical needs. After all, Jesus died on the cross purchasing your spirit and your body. (See 1 Corinthians 6:20.)
Here the Psalmist says that when he cried or prayed to the Lord, that God healed him. The simple truth is this: God hears and answers prayer. However, James 4:3 lets know that if we do not pray correctly, our prayers will go unanswered. This verse says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss.” Clearly, there is a wrong way to pray and there is a right way to pray. Only when we pray correctly does God hear and answer prayer.
So how does one pray correctly for healing? In James 5:15 we learn that it is the “PRAYER OF FAITH” that heals the sick. In order to pray the prayer of faith one must be completely certain of God’s will concerning the thing that they are asking Him for. How can you pray in FAITH if you are unsure of God’s will in the matter? Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing God’s Word. It is impossible to have faith for a blessing that you are unsure that God is offering.
Many people make the mistake of praying, “If it by Thy will,” when it comes to physical healing. There is no need to pray, “If it be Thy will,” if God’s Word already tells us what God’s will is on the subject. Praying, “If it be Thy will,” for healing is actually praying in unbelief!
You would never pray, “Lord, if it be Your will, save me from my sins.” Of course not! The Word of God is already clear that it is God’s will for you to be saved from your sin. Well, why would you pray, “Lord, if it be Your will heal me,” when God’s Word is clear that it is His will to heal you.
Another truth that you need to learn about prayer is that God’s written Word is God’s will. They are one and the same! If God says that something is His will in His Word then there is no need for you to wonder if it is His will for you. God’s will IS God’s Word, and God’s Word IS God’s will! 1 John 5:14 says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything (includes healing) according to His will (according to His Word), He hears us.” If He promises it in His Word, then it is His will for you!
Confession: Healing belongs to me because Jesus paid for my sickness and diseases on the cross. It is God’s will for me to be healed!
