“Then He is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down to the Pit; I have found a ransom’; his flesh shall be young like a child’s, he shall return to the days of his youth.” Job 33:24-25
Today’s verse is one of the most powerful scriptures in the entire Bible about how the grace of God, through His Son, Jesus, redeemed us from sin and sickness. Let’s look at the verse piece by piece.
It begins by saying, “Then He is gracious to him…” You see, every one of us was born into sin. Romans 3:23 declares, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Not one of us could ever “earn” our way into right standing with God no matter how many good works we do. Each of us deserves God’s wrath and punishment because of our sin. Had it not been for the GRACE of God given to us through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, each of us would be doomed to an eternity in Hell. God has truly been “gracious” to us!
The next part of this verse declares that God said, “Deliver him from going down to the Pit; I have found a ransom.” In other words Jesus took my place and He took your place on the cross. He died in our place, with our sins so that we could be free! Romans 5:8 declares, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Believe it or not it even gets better! Because He goes on to say, “His flesh shall be young like a child’s, he shall return to the days of his youth.” Not only has Jesus redeemed us from the penalty for our sin, but He has also redeemed us from sickness and disease. At the cross He purchased our salvation and our healing. Both salvation and healing are free gifts offered to us through the grace of God!
At the cross God did not only make provision for your spirit, but He made provision for your body as well. It is His will to restore your flesh, bringing healing to your body!
Confession: I do not have to be sick anymore because on the cross Jesus took my place, paying for all of my sins and all of my sicknesses.
