“And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God of your father David: because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah, but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot like the harlotry of the house of Ahab, and also have killed your brothers, those of your father’s household, who were better than yourself, behold, the Lord will strike your people with a serious affliction- your children, your wives, and all your possessions; and you will become very sick with a disease of your intestines, until your intestines come out by reason of sickness, day by day.”’ 2 Chronicles 21:12-15
Sickness doesn’t belong to God’s people. Sickness belongs to the wicked, those who live in sin following after the desires of their flesh and mind being seduced by demons. Ssee Ephesians 2:1-3.) God does not put sickness on those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, having been made righteous by His precious blood.
We must remember that in Deuteronomy 7:15 God said, “And the Lord will take away from you ALL SICKNESS, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, BUT WILL LAY THEM ON ALL THOSE WHO HATE YOU.” Here God clearly states that sickness does not belong to His children but to the wicked.
Some believe that their sickness has come from God because He is punishing them for some sin in their life. My friend, God does not use sickness and disease to teach His children lessons or to correct them when they have sinned. James 1:13 clearly states that God does not test us with evil. God will not teach or correct His children with anything that Jesus Christ has redeemed us from!
Would you give your son or daughter some awful disease to teach them a lesson? Of course not! Every parent I know would rather they themselves be sick than to see their own child suffer. In Matthew 7:11 God compares His love towards us with our love towards our own children saying, “How much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” In other words, if you would not put it on your kids, God will not put it on His!
Are you born again? Do you genuinely love the Lord and strive to serve and please Him? If so, then God has not put sickness upon you. If sickness has struck your body, it is from the devil, not from your loving heavenly Father!
Confession: I am a born again child of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Sickness does not belong to me. My Father only gives me good and perfect gifts!
