Day 60: PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!

Day 60: PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!
February 28, 2015 Joel Grantham

“In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death.  And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.”  Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord…  And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him saying, ‘Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, “Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father:  I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you.”  2 kings 20:1-2, 4-5

Prayer changes things!  We serve a God who hears and answers prayers.  What God did for Hezekiah He will do for you because He is no respecter of persons!  (Romans 2:11)  I want you to let this word from God sink down deep into your spirit today.  God says, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you.”

Many people mistakenly believe that God has predetermined the length of each person’s life, having established the day that each person will die.  However, the Bible does not teach this.  Hebrews 9:27 says, “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”  This scripture does not say that God has appointed the DAY that you and I will die.  It simply says that God has appointed the fact that you and I WILL die someday.

As a matter of fact the Bible teaches that we can lengthen or shorten our life span, depending on our faith and obedience to God’s Word.  One such scripture is Proverbs 3:1 which says, “My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for LENGTH OF DAYS and LONG LIFE and peace they will ADD to you.”

In Hezekiah’s case, God was gracious to warn him through the prophet Isaiah that he was going to die, and that he needed to get his affairs in order so that his family would be properly provided for after he was gone.  It is clear that at this time, death was NOT God’s perfect will for Hezekiah because God eventually healed him.  However, if Hezekiah had not responded to the word of the Lord with prayer and faith he would not have been healed.

The point is this:  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DIE from your sickness and disease!  God wants to heal you and lengthen your life.  However, He is waiting on you to get into a position whereby you can receive His healing touch.  Call upon Him in faith, not in fear, without doubting and God will respond to your prayers!

Confession:  The Lord is my healer.  I call upon You and trust You for my complete healing.
