Day 6: God Always Keeps His Promises

Day 6: God Always Keeps His Promises
January 5, 2015 Joel Grantham

“And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken.  For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.”  Genesis 21:1-2 (NKJV)

I love this portion of God’s Word for several reasons.  First of all, it shows not only God’s ability to heal the sick, but also His willingness to do so.  It was nothing short of a miracle for Abraham and Sarah to conceive a child at their age.  After all, Abraham was a hundred years old and his wife Sarah was over ninety when Isaac was born.

Not only does this scripture show that God can, that God does and that God will heal the sick, but it also reveals to us something very important about the character of God.  It shows that God ALWAYS keeps His promises!

You have probably heard it said that God can do anything.  Did you know that this is not entirely accurate?  There is at least one thing that God cannot do.  Hebrews 6:18 tells us that it is “impossible for God to lie.”  God can never, ever break the promises that He has made to us!

Today, I want you to take great comfort in the fact that Genesis 21:1 declares, “And the Lord visited Sarah AS HE SAID, and the Lord did for Sarah AS HE HAD SPOKEN.”  No matter how hopeless your situation may seem, God’s Word will not fail you.  He always keeps His promise!  And His Word is filled, from Genesis to Revelation, with promises for your health and healing.

If Abraham and Sarah could become pregnant at their advanced age, at a time when it would be physically and medically impossible, certainly God can and will keep His word to you and heal your body just as He promised to do.

CONFESSION:  God always keeps His promises.  My God cannot lie.  Healing has been promised to me.
