“So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I Have asked for him from the Lord.” 1 Samuel 1:20
Time and time again, throughout the pages of the Bible, God hears and answers prayer for physical healing. What could God be trying to tell us? Why would He include so many stories of physical healing in the pages of the Bible if it was not His will to heal us today?
I’m sure that you are familiar with the story of Hannah. Hannah was a very godly woman who lived in Israel during the time that the judges governed the land. Hannah was one of two wives married to Elkanah. Hannah had no children because she was barren, but Peninnah, Elkanah’s other wife, had borne her husband children.
Like any married woman who wants to have children but cannot get pregnant, Hannah was heartbroken. Yet, her faith remained strong in God. She knew that He was able to heal her body. After all, He had promised the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 7:14 saying, “There shall not be a male or female barren among you.”
Well, like always, God kept His promise and answered Hannah’s prayer. She gave birth to a son, Samuel, who would grow up to be a great Prophet for the Lord.
What do I want you to take away from this passage in God’s Word? First, I want you to realize that God does hear and answer prayer for physical healing. Secondly, I believe that God included this story in the Bible because He wanted to encourage any married couples that are having difficulty conceiving a child. God’s Word is very clear on the subject – it is His will for you to have children and He does hear and answer your prayer when you call upon Him in faith.
Confession: God hears and answers all of my prayers.
