“Then the Lord said unto him, “Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die. So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The-Lord-Is-Peace.” Judges 6:23-24
Throughout the Scriptures God has revealed Himself to humanity through His many covenant names. Each one of God’s names reveals a different aspect of His nature and character allowing us to know WHO He is. Here, God reveals to Gideon that His name is Jehovah Shalom, The Lord our peace.
According to Strong’s concordance, the word Shalom actually means much more than peace. It means completeness, wholeness, HEALTH, peace, welfare, safety, and prosperity. I have heard it said that Shalom means nothing broken and nothing missing. It comes from the related word, shulam, which means to be fully paid. In other words, Jehovah Shalom means that God has already fully paid for your peace, health and prosperity!
Even though the Lord revealed this to Gideon over three thousand years ago, it still applies to you and me today. You see, God is eternal and He never changes. In Malachi 3:6 He declared, “For I am the Lord, I change not.” He is still Jehovah Shalom today! His nature never changes!
Today, God Jehovah Shalom is saying to you, “Peace be with you; do not fear, YOU SHALL NOT DIE.” Your healing has already been paid for. There is no need to worry or to beg. Do not be afraid, but with your whole heart trust God’s Word. Allow Him to be Jehovah Shalom in your life!
Confession: The Lord is my peace, I will not be afraid. My healing has already been paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ.
