Day 39: Stop Fighting Sickness

Day 39: Stop Fighting Sickness
February 7, 2015 Joel Grantham

“For the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”  Deuteronomy 20:4

I hear people say all the time that they are “fighting a cold” or that someone “lost their battle with cancer.”  This kind of thinking is part of the problem!  Where in God’s Word are we ever told to fight sickness or disease?  If you are fighting sickness, you are in the wrong fight!  Jesus has already defeated your enemy on the cross when He said “It is finished!”

The Bible doesn’t say that by His stripes you “WILL BE HEALED.”  It says that by His stripes you “WERE HEALED.”  One of the main reasons that Christians are defeated with sickness and disease is that they are still trying to get God to give them something that He has already given them!  We are not the sick trying to get healed.  No, we are the healed the devil is trying to make sick!

Your battle is not with sickness and disease.  God has already fought and won that battle for you through Jesus Christ!  The only battle that you have to fight today is the “fight of faith.”  1 Timothy 6:12 calls the fight of faith a “GOOD FIGHT.”  Well I don’t know about you, but the only good fight that I know about is the one I win.

What is the fight of faith?  The fight of faith is not a fight to get victory over Satan or even sickness, it is a fight to maintain the victory that Jesus already won.  We do not have to take any new ground, we only have to hold the ground that Jesus already took from the devil!  And my friend, we have the high ground!  We win every time, as long as we stay in a position of faith.

The fight of faith is simply the fight to stay in faith.  When you are going through a trial, or your body has been attacked by sickness or disease, do not let go of your positive confession in what Christ has already done for you.  Stand your ground, resist the devil by claiming that you ARE healed.

We are not fighting the devil from a standpoint of defeat, trying to get our healing.  No, we are fighting from a standpoint of victory.  We are already healed!  The devil is trying to make us sick.  And the only way that he can do that is to get us out of the arena of faith and into the arena of fighting sickness.

Confession:  I resist all sickness, pain and disease in my body.  You have no right to live in my body because Jesus has purchased my healing with His own blood at the cross of Calvary.  By His stripes I was healed!
