Day 26: An Evil Heart Of Unbelief

Day 26: An Evil Heart Of Unbelief
January 25, 2015 Joel Grantham

“Those very men who brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the Lord.”  Numbers 14:37

Quite simply, our words can kill us, or they can heal us!  Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”  Your tongue has power!  You can literally talk your way into a miracle or you can talk your way into sickness, and eventually into death!

The words that you speak reveal a lot about you.  Your words reveal your faith.  In Matthew 12:34 Jesus said, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”  Your words reveal what is in your heart.  Romans 10:10 tells us that faith is in our heart, not in our head.  You can locate a person’s faith by just listening to the words that they speak about a certain situation.

Negative words of fear and doubt are not a weakness, they are a sin!  Actually God’s Word refers to them as “EVIL”.  Numbers 14:37 He calls it “an evil report.”  Anytime that you speak about your circumstances in a contradictory way than what the Lord has said about your circumstances, you are speaking an evil report.

Never talk the problem, always speak the answer.  The answer is what God has said about your situation in His Word.  Talking the problem – how bad it is, how hopeless it looks, how painful it feels, is an evil report.  But when you fill your mouth with God’s promises, even in the midst of a bad situation, you please God with your faith.

Hebrews 3:12 calls the report that was spoken by the Israelites, “an EVIL HEART OF UNBELIEF.”  Evil words reveal a much deeper problem – an evil heart.  Unbelief is the absolute worst sin there is!  The consequences of unbelief are disastrous!  Depending on what area of God’s Word you are in unbelief about, it could cause you to spend an eternity separated from God, suffering in Hell; or it could cause you to die at an early age or even suffer through life with constant sickness or pain.

So, whose report will you believe?  Are you going to believe what the doctors told you about your sickness?  Maybe they said that there is nothing that can be done, or that you will need to take medication for the rest of your life.  Are you going to believe the painful symptoms in your body or are you going to believe God’s promises of health and healing?  The choice is yours!  Choose faith and you will choose life.

Confession:  I choose to speak words of faith about my situation.  Regardless what it looks like or feels like, I believe God that it will be even as God said it would be in His Word!
