Day 25: You Will Have What You Say

Day 25: You Will Have What You Say
January 24, 2015 Joel Grantham

“Say to them, “As I live,” says the Lord, “just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you.”  Numbers 14:28

God takes our words very seriously.  Every word that we speak matters to God!  In Matthew 12:36 Jesus said, “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give a account of it in the day of judgment.”

Why is God so serious about our words?  Because our words contain creative power.  Mankind is not an animal like scientists would have us to believe.  Animals were not created in God’s image, but man was.  Man is a speaking spirit created in the image of God, Who is a speaking spirit.  Man is the only creature in God’s entire creation that can speak intelligible words.

This is important because words are powerful.  God used His words to create the reality that He wanted (see Genesis 1).  In the same way, our words have the ability to create the reality that we live in.  Your words create your future.  Years ago a man told me, “You are where you are today because of the words that you spoke yesterday.  And you will be where you are tomorrow because of the words that you speak today.”  I have never forgotten that powerful moment!  In other words, if you do not like your present condition, you can change it by speaking God’s promises over your life!

Proverbs 18:21 said it best when it declared, “Death and life are in the power of the TONGUE.”  Did you read that?  Death and life are not in God’s power, they are in the power of YOUR mouth!  Stop blaming God for all your trouble!  More than likely the source of your problems is just below your nose.

In Mark 11:23 Jesus did not say that we will have everything that God says, He said that we will have what WE SAY!  God has said a lot of things about your physical health and well being.  But what have YOU been saying about your physical health and well being?  The only part of the Bible that will work for you is the part that you believe, confess and act on!

Remember, God is listening to your words, waiting for you to speak His promises in faith.  When you do, it gives God permission to move on your behalf.  But when you speak negatively, it gives the devil permission to destroy you.

Confession:  My mouth was created to praise God.  Today, I give You Lord, total control over my mouth, tongue, lips and voice.  May every word that I speak be pleasing to you.
