Day 167: The Forgiveness/Healing Connection
‘“But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins,’ – then He said to the paralytic, ‘Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.’” Matthew 9:6
Physical healing is PROOF that God can forgive our sins. Why? Because sin and sickness are connected. In other words, sickness exists because sin exists. Sickness came into the world through sin.
Romans 5:12 states, ‘Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, AND DEATH THROUGH SIN, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.” Mankind not only died spiritually because of sin, he also died PHYSICALLY. Sickness was not a part of God’s original creation, nor was it ever a part of God’s plan for the human race. Sickness exists because of sin, therefore sin is the root cause of sickness in the earth.
Scriptures like Isaiah 33:24 and Psalm 103:3 link together the forgiveness of our sin and the healing of our body. It just makes sense that the cure for one would also be the cure for the other. After all, if you eliminate the root (sin) you will by default eliminate the fruit (sickness). It would have been impossible for Jesus to pay for our sins with His own blood and not also, at the very same time, pay the price for our sickness as well!
Here in Matthew Jesus makes it very clear that the fact that He can heal the sick is proof that He can also forgive sins. Why? Because they are connected to one another. His sacrifice for our redemption from sin would have to include healing for our physical body!
Following this same logic then, one would have to conclude that, if it is not God’s will to HEAL ALL, then it is not God’s will to SAVE ALL! If sickness exists because sin exists, how could it be God’s will to save all but not His will to heal all? Impossible!
So be encouraged today! The very fact that you are saved and have been forgiven of your sins is PROOF that physical healing belongs to you!
Confession: I have been forgiven and healed by the blood of Jesus!
