Day 162: Your Faith Will Work

Day 162: Your Faith Will Work
July 8, 2015 Joel Grantham

“And Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.’  And his servant was healed that same hour.”  Matthew 8:13

Contrary to popular belief and teaching, divine healing is not the result of God’s sovereign will.  While it is true that God does heal some people through His great mercy, people who have no faith in His Word and even people who are unsaved, this is not how God expects you and me (His covenant children) to receive the many wonderful benefits of salvation that He has provided.  (See Psalm 103 for a complete list of benefits.)

The scriptures are very clear that every Christian can be healed if they have the faith to receive healing.  Only SOME people will be healed through the gifts of healing (See 1 Corinthians 12:9.) which are really acts of God’s sovereign mercy.  Yet, EVERYONE can be healed through faith!

It is not a mystery why some are healed and others or not anymore than it is a mystery why some are saved and others are not.  Both are received the same way, through faith.  God has established what the scripture calls in Romans 3:27 “The law of faith” for our benefit.  This spiritual law was put in place so that we could receive God’s many wonderful promises, including divine healing.

If the truth be known, God is not in charge of who is healed and who is not healed anymore than He is in charge over who is saved and who is not saved.  Healing, like salvation, is a choice that we must make.  Deuteronomy 30:19 tells us that healing is a choice that we have been empowered to make!  Jesus made it very clear to the centurion in Matthew 8 that the healing of his servant was brought about because of his faith.

The law of faith states that you can have anything that you can have faith for.  Now, you can’t have faith for something that God has not promised you in His Word because as Romans 10:17 declares, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  So it would be impossible to have faith for something that is not God’s will for you to have.

There is one more thing that I would like to bring to your attention from this verse.  It says, “And his servant was healed the same hour.”  In other words, receiving by faith does not always mean that there will be instantaneous results.  Just because it hasn’t worked immediately doesn’t mean that it is not working.  This is why the Bible tells us in Hebrews 10:23 to hold on to the confession of our faith without wavering.  Your faith is guaranteed to work if you will not give up!

Confession:   My faith will work for me!  Healing is mine!  I refuse to waver!
