“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.” Exodus 23:25
I believe that one should exercise and eat right if they want to stay healthy. However, while bodily exercise and healthy eating certainly have their place in our physical well being, they can only take you so far. 1 Timothy 4:8 declares, “For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things…” The Word of God never tells us to put our trust in the healthy foods that we eat. We are to put our faith in God alone!
We live in a day of processed food and steroid-injected meat. How can one expect to be healthy eating in today’s world? Simple! God says that He will bless our food and take sickness away from us. What a promise from the God who cannot lie! (Titus 1:2)
This puts a whole new meaning to saying “grace” over your food before you eat. It is more than a tradition my friend. It is a command in the Word of God and it will keep you healthy! The next time you sit down to eat, whether it be for a quick sandwich or a full five-course dinner, be sure to give God thanks.
In 1 Timothy 4:4 God’s Word clearly commands, “For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving.” There is a powerful blessing of health and healing released as you give God thanks for each meal.
Confession: Thank You, Lord, for providing food for my enjoyment and for nourishment to my body. I thank You for taking sickness away from me.
