Day 158: Healing Is Good

Day 158: Healing Is Good
July 2, 2015 Joel Grantham

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”  Matthew 7:11

God is a good God.  He ONLY gives us GOOD gifts!  James 1:17 declares, “Every GOOD and every PERFECT gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

God is not in the business of giving His children harmful things such as sickness or disease.  Based upon Jesus’ statement in Matthew 7:11, it would be safe to say that, if you would not do it to or give it to your child, then neither would God do it to or give it to you.

I have never met a loving parent who would purposefully make their child sick.  A GOOD PARENT would never give their child sickness as a form of punishment or teach them a life lesson.  Never!  Well guess what?  According to Jesus, if you would not do it to your child, then neither would God do it to His child.

The Bible says that our Heavenly Father only gives us GOOD gifts.  However, some theologians have said that what us mere humans would call evil, God may actually call good.  They have said that sometimes sickness could be a good thing, even a blessing in disguise.  However, this is impossible because here in Matthew 7:11, Jesus tells us that God defines what is good the same way that we define what is good.  All throughout the Bible we learn that healing is good and that sickness is bad.

I like what Oral Roberts said one time while preaching. He said, “God is a good God.  God is totally good and the devil is totally bad.  There is no badness in God and there is no goodness in the devil.  God is a good God!”  Well, if God is good, then that would mean that it would never be His will for you to be sick.  Why don’t you go ahead and ask Him today for His good gift of healing.  Jesus said that He would not turn you away.

Confession:   Healing is good and sickness is bad.  My Heavenly Father only gives me good gifts.
