“For He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.” Lamentations 3:33
There is something that you need to know about the nature of God. I think Psalm 103:8-13 says it best when it says of God, “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities His children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”
Most people have a wrong view of God. They see Him as someone who punishes people for their sins by putting sickness and disease on them. However, this is not God’s nature at all! The Bible says that it is not God’s will to afflict us with sickness and disease! Ezekiel 33:11 even tells us that God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Even when God’s enemies die, He is sad!
In Exodus 15:26 God reveals one of His Covenant names as Jehovah Rophe, the Lord your Healer. Throughout the Bible God reveals Himself to humanity through many different covenant names. Names such as Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Nissi and Jehovah Shalom to name a few. Each one of God’s different names reveals a different aspect of His character and nature. When God revealed His name as Jehovah Rophe He was showing us that healing is not just something that He does, but it is Who He is! Healing is at the CORE of God’s very nature!
I always liked it when Oral Roberts would say that God is a good God. He would say, “There is no badness in God and there is no goodness in the devil.” In James 1:17 it tells us that God ONLY gives His children “good gifts.” It says, “Every GOOD gift and every PERFECT GIFT is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights…” Sickness is NEVER a good gift; therefore God never gives us sickness. As a matter of fact, Acts 10:38 calls healing “good” when it says that Jesus, “Went about DOING GOOD and HEALING all who were oppressed by the devil.”
Plain and simple, it is not God’s will for you to be sick! Sickness and disease does not come from God, it comes from the devil. God is a good God and it is His will for you to be healthy and whole.
Confession: God is a good God! It is God’s will for me to be healed.
