Day 13: Healing Is A Person

Day 13: Healing Is A Person
January 12, 2015 Joel Grantham

“If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought upon the Egyptians.  For I am the Lord who heals you.”  Exodus 15:26

This is by far one of the most popular verses of scripture where God promises physical healing to His people.  However, within this verse we find much more than a “promise” of healing.  It is here that God reveals to us one of His Covenant names.

God has many Covenant names.  Through each one of God’s Covenant names He reveals a different aspect of His nature and character to humanity.  A Covenant name reveals WHO God is more than what He does.

In Exodus 15:26 God reveals His name as Jehovah Ropha, which means, “The Lord your physician.”  Here God reveals to humanity that health and healing is not just something that He has, but it is WHO HE IS.  God is health and healing personified!  How could the One who IS healing give you sickness?

Some of God’s other covenant names are: Jehovah Shalom (Judges 6:24)-“The Lord our peace”, Jehovah Jireh (Genesis22:14)- “The Lord our provider”, and Jehovah Tsidkenu (Jeremiah 33:16)- “The Lord our righteousness” just to name a few.  In each of these revelations we learn that God does not HAVE peace, provision or righteousness, rather He IS peace, provision and righteousness.

Is it ever God’s will that we do not have peace?  Of course not!  He is Jehovah Shalom for all eternity.  Is it ever His will for a person to not be saved?  Absolutely not!  He is Jehovah Tsidkenu our righteousness.  If God is still Jehovah Shalom today and if He is still Jehovah Jireh today and if He is still Jehovah Tsidkenu today, then He is most certainly still Jehovah Rohpa today!  It is never His will for you to be sick!  Healing is a part of His eternal nature!

Confession:  Today I accept you Jesus as not only my savior, but also as my healer.  The Lord is my great physician!
