Day 121: You Have The Authority

Day 121: You Have The Authority
May 2, 2015 Joel Grantham

‘“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,’ says the Lord.”  Isaiah 54:17

Sickness is not a blessing from God sent to teach or perfect you.  It is a weapon from the devil sent to destroy you.  In 1 John 3:8 it says of Jesus that He came to “destroy the works of the devil”, not to use them!  God does not use the devil to teach His children lessons.  Satan is not an employee of Heaven.  God is not sub-contracting His work out to the devil!

In Revelation 12:10 the Bible calls Satan “the accuser of our brethren”.  One of Satan’s chief tactics is to lie to us about God.  He has convinced much of the church that sickness is from God instead of from him.  Through this lie he has caused many well-meaning Christians to accept their sickness as from God, instead of resisting sickness as being from the devil, causing him to flee from them!

By not understanding the position of spiritual authority they have been given in Christ, Christians have become beggars of God’s blessings instead of overcomers!  Nowhere in the New Testament are we ever instructed to ask God to do something about the devil for us.  After all, He gave us the authority to rebuke the devil!

In Matthew 18:18 Jesus said, “Whatever YOU bind on earth will be bound in heaven.”  In Luke 10:19 Jesus said, “Behold I GIVE YOU AUTHORITY…over all the power of the enemy.”  And in James 4:7 God tells us, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”  It is clear that God has given us the responsibility and the authority to overcome the devil and all of His attacks!

So how do we resist the devil, defeating his attacks of sickness and disease?  The answer is found right here in Isaiah 54:17 when it says, “Every tongue which rises up against you in judgment YOU shall condemn.”  It is not God Who rebukes the devil for us, He has already defeated him; it is we who must enforce the victory that Jesus won at the cross!

This Scripture goes on to say, “This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.”  In other words, part of our spiritual inheritance as “join-heirs” with Christ is the authority to resist and rebuke the devil.  If sickness has attacked your body, do not beg God to heal you, instead rebuke the devil by commanding that sickness to leave your body!  You have been given authority over ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY!

Confession:  In Christ I have a position of spiritual authority over all the power of the devil, therefore I rebuke and resist sickness in Jesus’ name.  I command sickness and disease to leave my body!  You have no right to afflict me because my body has been purchased by the blood of Jesus and is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
