Day 118: Who Will You Believe?

Day 118: Who Will You Believe?
May 2, 2015 Joel Grantham

“Who has believed our report?  And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”  Isaiah 53:1

There is a big difference between having symptoms of sickness and from actually being sick!  Symptoms are to sickness what temptation is to sin.  After all, it is not a sin to be tempted is it?  We all face temptation every single day.  Even Jesus was tempted.  Hebrews 4:15 tells us that, even though Jesus was tempted, He never did sin.  So you see, it is not a sin to be tempted, it only becomes a sin when you yield to the temptation.  In much the same way, just because you have symptoms of sickness in your body, it does not mean that you are actually sick!

God never promised that we would not be tempted by sin, but He did promise that when temptation comes, He would make a way of escape.  (See 1 Corinthians 10:13.)  In much the same way, God’s Word never promises that you will never have symptoms of sickness, it just promises that you do not have to yield to those symptoms!  We only become sick when we give in to our symptoms by accepting them.

In James 4:7 it says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”  We all have been taught that we should resist the temptation to sin.  However, sickness is just as much a work of the devil as sin is.  Acts 10:38 calls sickness “oppression of the devil’ and in Psalm 41:8 it calls disease “evil” (the original Hebrew calls it a thing of Belial).  The key to walking in God’s promises of health and healing is effectively resisting the devil when he tries to put symptoms on your body.

The battle to effectively resist sickness is determined by WHOM you choose to believe.  Are you going to believe your symptoms or are you going to believe God’s Word?  Who you decide to believe will determine your reality.

In Romans 3:4 it says, “Let God be true but every man a liar.”  There is a difference between facts and truth.  What God says is truth.  Your body may be telling you that you are sick by the symptoms that you feel, but God’s Word says that you ARE healed!  1 Peter 2:24 declares, “By Whose stripes YOU WERE HEALED.”  If you WERE healed then you ARE healed!  How can someone whom God says is healed, be sick?

The tactic of the devil is to get you to believe your symptoms instead of believing God’s Word.  The moment that you begin to see yourself differently from how God sees you, you will be defeated.  We are not the sick trying to get healed, rather we are the healed whom the devil is trying to make sick!  Instead of accepting your symptoms as reality, begin to praise and thank God that you ARE healed!  When you do this, the devil will have to most certainly flee from you!

Confession:  I am healed and whole by the stripes of Jesus.  I refuse to accept sickness in my body.  Let God be true and every symptom a liar!
