“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21
Most people think that death and life are in God’s power, believing that God is in control over who dies and who lives, who is healed and who is not. However, the Bible tells us that death and life are under the control of your mouth. You, not God, decide whether or not you are healed.
In Deuteronomy 30:19 God’s Word says, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” As you can see, God has given mankind the power of choice. It is no longer up to God who is blessed and who is not, it is now up to us.
Think about it for a moment. God is not in charge of who is saved and who is not. God has already made up His mind that He wants ALL to be saved. (See 2 Peter 3:9.) Salvation is not something that God chooses for you. Salvation is a choice that each of us must make as individuals. You, not God, decide whether or not you are saved when you, by faith, invite Jesus Christ to be your personal Lord and Savior.
The same is true for physical healing. Healing is not something that God chooses for some, but not others. In Romans 2:11 the Bible says that God is not a respecter of persons. He does not choose to heal some and not others any more than He chooses to save some, but not others! It is God’s will that ALL be healed!
In Deuteronomy 30:19 God said, “Choose life.” God wants us to choose His blessings. But the question remains, how do we CHOOSE God’s blessings? Remember God said, “I have set before you LIFE and DEATH, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life.” Then in Proverbs 18:21 He tells us HOW to choose life or death when He said, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
We choose God’s promises with our mouth. Our words have great power. In Matthew 12:37 Jesus said, “For by your WORDS you will be justified, and by your WORDS you will be condemned.” You choose salvation by confessing Christ with your mouth. The same way that you chose salvation is the very same way that you choose all of the promises of God.
To choose healing all you have to do is to begin to confess what God has promised in His Word concerning the healing of your body. Refuse to speak words of fear and doubt regardless of how things may look or how you may feel. Go ahead and choose healing today!
Confession: I boldly confess that Jesus Christ is my healer. Because of His shed blood on the cross I am redeemed from sickness and disease. I choose health and healing for my body in Jesus’ name.
