Day 107: God’s Holy Immune System

Day 107: God’s Holy Immune System
April 16, 2015 Joel Grantham

“A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”  Proverbs 17:22

God did not create our bodies to function with stress, anxiety or depression for long periods of time.  These kinds of emotions will leave you vulnerable to the enemy, making it easier for him to attack your body with sickness and disease.

In Nehemiah 8:10 the scriptures says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”   Joy is a powerful weapon against sickness and disease.  It is God’s holy immune system!  It will keep your spirit man strong in faith so that you are able to successfully resist the devil when he tries to attack your body with sickness.

Contrary to popular belief, joy is not an emotion.  It is a fruit.  Emotions originate in the soulish realm, but joy comes from your spirit man.  In Galatians 5:22-23 the Apostle Paul list the fruits of the Spirit as, “Love, JOY, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness and self-control.”  These are all attributes of your new spirit man which you received at salvation.  (See Ezekiel 36:26-27.)  The fruits of the Spirit are actually the fruits of the Holy Spirit that He imparts in our human spirits when He comes to live inside of us at salvation.

Joy is the strength of faith.  The Bible tells us that the greatest enemy to our faith, besides unbelief, is growing weary.  The joy of the Lord will give your faith staying power.  It will enable you to believe God regardless of your circumstances.

In 2 Corinthians 1:24, the King James Version reads, “Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are HELPERS OF YOUR JOY: FOR BY FAITH YE STAND.”   When you’re in the middle of the fight of faith, the number one thing you need is joy!  Joy will keep your faith strong, causing you to win the victory.

The secret to maintaining your joy is staying full of the Holy Spirit.  In Acts 13:52 it says, “And the disciples were filled with JOY and with the Holy Spirit.”  Every day you should ask God to fill you afresh with His Holy Spirit.  As a matter of fact, why don’t you just lift your hands right now and ask God to fill you?  Go ahead and begin to pray in your heavenly prayer language and allow the river of God to flow through you.  When you do, the joy of the Lord will begin to bubble up on the inside of you giving you strength!

Confession:  The joy of the Lord is my strength.  HAHAHA! (Repeat as often as necessary.)
